Congratulations and welcome to East Celebrity Elite Londonderry!

We want all families to know that much time was spent creating each of our teams and discussing each athlete that attended tryouts. We do not make decisions on which divisions to create and where to place each child lightly. Throughout the weekend and each day since, the owners and staff have met daily in an effort to create the most successful teams possible, and also to ensure that each child is placed on a team where they can progress and excel. As I’m sure you can all imagine, this is not an easy task! We feel confident that our 2020-2021 teams will surpass your expectations!

ALL TEAM PRACTICES WILL BEGIN ON WEDNESDAY, JULY 8TH!

DIVISIONS, LEVELS, AND TEAMS

Divisions at ECE do not always remain the same, and this year there have been some changes! We understand that change is sometimes difficult, but we hope you will also find it exciting! Several divisions that existed last year at ECE have changed sizes. Some divisions have been eliminated, as well as others added.  Our entire staff is extremely excited about this and very much looking forward to coaching their teams! We are also welcoming some new coaches as well as many new athletes.

Teams for 2020-2021 have been formed based on the skills our athletes displayed on the day of tryouts.  As many of you are aware, it is very difficult to adequately evaluate abilities in this short amount of time. It is crucial that our athletes have the ability to stunt (both as bases and flyers) equally as well as they tumble at each level. In addition to this, as many of you are aware, we are currently reducing athlete contact because of the restrictions regarding COVID-19. For this reason we expect more movement between teams, both up and down to occur this season more than ever. When we begin to stunt in practices, we will be sure to make certain that all athletes have been placed at their optimal level. Our goal is always to place athletes on the team in which they can best excel and progress.

Below is an example to help all parents better understand. Athlete A has been placed on a L3 team. At tryouts they displayed strong L3 tumbling yet when they begin stunting, this athlete has had difficulty basing L3 stunts and making necessary stunting corrections. At this time, we may feel that the athlete is better suited for a L2 team where they can contribute more to all aspects of the routine.

Likewise, Athlete B has been placed on a L3 team. At tryouts they displayed strong L3 tumbling skills and some L4 skills. When they begin stunting, this athlete excels at basing all L3 stunts and we feel they can handle and contribute to a L4 team.

We know that in some cases, kids and parents will be over-joyed at their team placements while some may not have made their first-choice team. We would like to remind everyone that our tryout process is a starting point. If you have not been placed on your first choice team, we encourage all cheerleaders to spend the summer months working hard to continue trying to reach your goal. We also encourage all parents to trust in the process and to support this.

We want all families to realize that throwing a certain tumbling skill is only one aspect of this sport, and we are striving to help all of our students become well-rounded and proficient in all areas of cheerleading. Additionally, being able to throw a skill at home is very different than having the ability to compete that skill. As always, there can be team movement at any point in the season based on each child’s skills, work ethic, etc, but we believe the teams we have currently formed are off to a very successful start!

Please try to avoid making speculations about teams and other athletes. It can be frustrating to us and to other parents/athletes to hear negative comments about the makeup of teams before anyone has even attended a practice. Please realize that in most cases, these speculations are false. ALL teams have been set up for success and ALL teams meet and exceed the skills necessary to score well at competitions. We strongly encourage you all to attend your first practice, whether you are pleased or disappointed with your placement, and to meet your teammates and coaches rather than forming opinions based on hearsay and speculation.

CONTACTING OWNERS

Following our Team Placement post, please do NOT contact the ECE coaches directly with issues or concerns. Any concerns need to be sent to ece.londonderrynh@gmail.com. We encourage everyone to practice the 24-hour rule when sending emails. We will begin to respond to emails on Monday, July 6th, following the July 4th weekend.

COACHES

Some of our coaching combinations are new this season, and an equal amount of time was spent on determining which coaches will work best with each group of athletes.

ATHLETE SKILL LEVEL

We were all very impressed with the progression of our athletes! The vast majority of them have gained a tremendous amount of skill since last season, even considering the circumstances! However, we want to reiterate that having strong lower level teams is also very important at ECE. It is our goal to continue building our younger program, and this year we have more Tiny and Mini aged athletes than ever before! If you have younger siblings and friends that are just beginning in this sport, please encourage them to tryout! We do not want kids to wait until they reach a higher skill level before making ECE their home!

CROSSOVERS

Many kids indicated on tryout forms that they were interested in cheering on two teams. In some cases, they have been placed on two teams. If you want to cross team and have not been placed on two teams, please know that we will do our best to accommodate as the season progresses. We would prefer to begin practices and become familiar with each team before adding additional cross teamers.

TO ALL FAMILIES

We are so excited for the season ahead! Welcome to all of our cheerleaders, both new and veteran athletes! We can’t wait to get 2020-2021 started!!
